Excerpt — Dolly Evans, A Tale of Three Casts
Within moments, Zolanda was totally alone, no view of the lake or boat.
While Dolly was certainly difficult to get along with, it was for moments like these that she felt grateful.
A large clearing presented itself, a small caravan towards the back, with a Land Rover beside it. Two men, sitting on collapsible chairs, had a large bag and were taking something out of it, and whatever it was, caught the sun.
Stepping back, her foot landed on a twig and it broke with a loud crack. As she turned to head back down the path, she bumped into something.
A man stood in front of her, blocking her path.
'Ron, get over here, we've got company,' he called.
